Persimmon Awards
The Persimmon Awards honor the diverse achievements of women in Cumberland County who exemplify peace, justice and dignity for all through their lives as business leaders, educators, medical professionals, public servants, artists, and Community volunteers.

Walk the Mile
Walk The Mile demonstrates the strength of our community in standing against violence and sexual assault. Funds raised from Walk the Mile goes to directly help support and serve survivors of sexual assault and gender-based violence.

Circle of Giving Reception
This exclusive reception is open to donors who have given $150 or more throughout the year. This opportunity features fare and beverage while we delve into the inter workings of YWCA services, programs, and future aspirations.

Our Circle of Angels Holiday Reception is open to the public. This opportunity welcomes you to join us for an evening of friends and warmth.
Support Groups↘
Support groups for survivors of sexual assault run twice a year. These support groups may include activities such as trauma-informed yoga. These groups offer a space for survivors to come together and work through trauma as a group in a supportive environment. Once you complete the 8-week support group, you are welcome to join our alumni group.
Hotline Volunteer Training↘
Make a difference in the lives of survivors by becoming a Volunteer Advocate with YWCA’s Sexual Assault and Human Trafficking Services.
Our Sexual Assault Counselor Volunteer Training prepares community members to provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to survivors of sexual assault and human trafficking. Volunteers answer our 24/7 hotline, provide crisis intervention and emotional support, respond to medical accompaniments, and help connect survivors with resources and services. The training includes 40 hours of classroom instruction followed by a supervised practicum.
Training is provided at no cost for volunteers who commit to meeting the program's volunteer requirements. Volunteers must complete Pennsylvania Criminal History, Pennsylvania Child Abuse, and FBI clearances, as well as National Sex Offender Registry (NSOR) verification and Pennsylvania Megan's Law verification, before beginning service.

Every third Thursday, UPMC brings its mobile truck to our lower parking lot for free health screenings and care. No insurance is required. No appointment is needed; walk-ins are welcome.
